SMS Schlesien was at the Battle of Jutland in 1916, but saw only limited, brief combat. It was part of the German fleet's rear guard, positioned behind its sister ship, SMS Pommern, which was sunk by a torpedo. After the battle, Schlesien was relegated to secondary duties and served as a training ship for much of its career.
